The Nevada Supreme Court is the highest court of the Nevada Judiciary. The Supreme Court generally consists of a Chief Justice and two or more associate justices.[i] Justices are selected through general election by qualified electors. Justices are appointed for a period of six years.[ii]
The Supreme Court may exercise appellate jurisdiction over all district court civil cases, and on questions of law in criminal cases where the district court had original jurisdiction. The court also has power to issues writs such as: mandamus, certiorari, prohibition, quo warranto, and habeas corpus, and all writs necessary to the complete exercise of its appellate jurisdiction.[iii]
