New Mexico State Legislature

The New Mexico State Legislature is a bicameral legislature.  The upper house is called the Senate and the lower house is the House of Representatives.

The upper house or the Senate consists of 42 elected members.  A Senator represents approximately 43,000 residents.

The lower house or the House of Representatives consists of 70 members.  Each representative represents approximately 25,980 residents of New Mexico.
