The New Jersey legislature consists of two houses. The upper house is the Senate and the lower house is the General Assembly.
The Senate consists of 40 members. Its chamber is located in the State House at Trenton. In order to be eligible for election, a Senator should have completed 30 years of age and been the resident of the state for at least four consecutive years.
The General Assembly consists of 80 members. They too meet in the State House at Trenton. To be eligible, a member of the General Assembly should have completed 21 years of age and lived in the State for a minimum of two years.
