The Colorado General Assembly is the state legislature of Colorado. It is a bicameral body, consisting of the Colorado House of Representatives and the Colorado Senate.
The Colorado Senate is the upper house of the Colorado General Assembly. It is composed of 35 members. Senators are elected to four year terms and are limited to two consecutive terms in office.
The Colorado House of Representatives is the lower house of the Colorado General Assembly. The House is composed of 65 members. Representatives are elected to two year terms, and are limited to four consecutive terms in office.
The entire House is elected in each general election. Senators are elected in two staggered classes so that one-half of the senators are elected in each general election.
