The Oklahoma Constitution was adopted by Constitutional Convention on July 16, 1907. It was ratified by vote of the People on September 17, 1907. The Constitution became effective on November 16, 1907, when Oklahoma was admitted as the 46th State of the United States. The Constitution consists of twenty-nine articles. The first eight articles pertain to the state’s government.
The three methods of constitutional amendment under Article 24 are:
- by the Oklahoma Legislature
- a constitutional convention , or
- an initiative petition.
